The Cultural Corporation of Viña del Mar is pleased to announce the opening of registration for the “XLVIII Dr. Luis Sigall International Musical Performance Competition, Classical Guitar Mention”. This version of the prestigious competition, which has been in force since 1974, is financed by the Fund for the Promotion of National Music, Call 2024, of the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage, the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso and the Illustrious Municipality of Viña del Mar.
As an active member of the World Federation of International Music Competitions (WFIMC), the Cultural Corporation of Viña del Mar continues its commitment to the field of music diffusion and expression, consolidating itself as one of the most prominent programs in Chile and internationally.
The competition, open to guitarists without distinction of nationality, is aimed at talented performers born between July 12, 1992 and October 11, 2007. Contestants selected for the Semifinal and Final Phases will have transportation costs covered to and from your country of origin or residence, as well as the transfer Santiago Airport – Viña del Mar – Santiago Airport. In addition, lodging and food will be offered during your stay in the city.
The distinguished Jury of the Competition will be made up of Chilean and foreign musicians with recognized professional careers.
This year, the initial stage of participant selection will take place on July 11-12, 2024, at which time the contestants who will advance to the next phases will be discerned. Meanwhile, the semifinal and final stages will take place from October 7 to 11, 2024. A significant milestone of this contest is the return of the competition to the renovated and recently reopened Municipal Theater of Viña del Mar.
